Recently, China Machinery Industry Federation organized a review meeting of Hualong No. 1 nuclear reactor coolant pump thrust bearing independently developed by Harbin Electric Power Co., Ltd. in Harbin.At the review meeting, the project passed the review with the unique domestic and internationally leading evaluation results.This indicated that China’s equipment manufacturing enterprise has another independent research and development nuclear power technology which will lead the direction of international new composite bearing research and development.
A group of 13 experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering including Yu Junchong and Yuxi Gao agreed that the new composite bearings are superior to those using babbitt alloy thrust bearings.It has completely independent intellectual property rights, filling the domestic gap and achieving international leadership level. It can be applied to new units after supplementary correlation analysis and test verification
Experts attending the meeting stated that the new composite thrust bearing of PPSEK resin-based composite material with independent intellectual property rights developed by Harbin Electric Assembly.It has advanced design methods, reasonable structure, excellent manufacturing process and material selection.It meet the technical conditions for idle oil-free shutdown ( Technical requirements such as SBO condition). The full-scale thrust bearing was tested through a 375-hour full-flow test and 53 start-stop tests (including no top oil shutdown 2 times). The results met the specifications and test program requirements.The thrust pad material was subjected to a 2184-hour high temperature oil immersion test. Material performance is stable. At the same time, 300MW nuclear main pump thrust bearings manufactured with the same materials and processes have completed 2012 hours of high load operation and 206 non-top oil start and stop tests on the bearing test bench. The performance indicators meet the technical requirements.
